The Bow to the west

The Bow to the west
Stitched image (8 shots) of the Milky Way Bow, looking west and covering from south to north. Somewhat more light pollution than I'd like (and a few local lights). See notes, then view large.

Every time you post one of your nighttime skies I feel inspired to try this too but the idea of being alone outside at night way out here in the woods always keeps me inside my house (especially since a bear visited the other night.) :-O

Thank you for your amazing images, George. This is so beautiful on the full screen and I just love reading all the little notes you put up for us too. :)

OMG, GEORGE.
The second I saw this picture I clicked on it, made the background black, sat back and just ATE THAT PICTURE UP. What a jaw-dropping spectacle. Absolutely MAJESTIC. Would look fabulous filling an entire wall at a gallery or museum. Simply gorgeous...and the fact that it's a pano from 8 pictures...WOW!! OUTSTANDING!!!

This is the sort of picture that deeply inspires me to add astral photography to our adventures. If I got a picture like this...why, I think I could just put my camera down! HEH, I wouldn't of course, but I'd feel satisfied that in the area of astral photography, I got my bucket list shot! :)

Thanks for this picture...I enjoyed it so very much!

Thanks too for your wonderful comments on my last series! I loved the comment about Lantana being scorned...it's funny how many plants are hated in their local areas and revered elsewhere!

You managed a perfect bow with amazing detail! I'm not bothered about the light pollution at all, it's very moderate but I know what you mean. In a long exposure even a tiny bit of light gets so much brighter...

The light pollution doesn't ruin the photo but it is a reminder of how dikfficult it is to find dark skies.

Great work.
Of course for a "deep sky" image there is too much light pollution. But for a photograph with, too, an artistic aspect, the strong lights around that group of trees are quite neccessary - in my opinion.

Many thanks, Leon, that's a good point about the light around the trees.

Make a line 47 Tucanae, in front of the SMC you will see three stars in a line perpendicular to the cloud , right next to that you will see on the same line the four Octans south is just a little below and right of the octans.
