As you approach Custom House Quay, the eye is drawn to an unusual statue with arms outstretched. This is one of the few memorials in the country to groups of men and women who left Britain to join the International Brigades in Spain. Quoted from BBC Scotland.

Cheers, Rosa.
Joe, Son of the Rock club has replied to Rosalyn HilborneThe irony to me it that the style of this statue of La Pasionara is more like that of the Falangist movement and statues you once saw in Spain dedicated to the dead of the Right, before they were removed in the late 70s, early 80s. I suppose both the Far Left and Far Right admired the same sort of monolithic strength in their sculptures and architecture.
