The light in this image is absolutely gorgeous and it has brought out some wonderful warm colours and everything looks so bright and clean, despite the grey sky. Beautifully composed and taken Rosa.

I like the closer view in the PiP as well.

I actually had a look at this place online yesterday.............and it looks stunning! I obviously didn't read it all correctly though..........and I thought it was prohibitively expensive for a day ticket without realising it was valid for a year........which ain't bad. It's a shame they don't do a day ticket for occasional visitors though.

Thank you very much for your kind comments Keith. It is a stunning place and having now been there, can understand why so many go back time and time again.

You are right, it is very expensive for just a day, and if I didn't live close enough to use the ticket many times in the year, I wouldn't pay it. However because I have a local postcode the ticket price is almost halved. When it first opened, not long before the pandemic, it was about half the price they charge now, but after so much investment and two difficult years it is a high price. As it is becoming very successful, I would hope that the ticket price may drop....you never know! I had just better add that it was a Christmas present from my eldest daughter ;-))

PS. A guest or guests of a ticket holder can enter for £18 throughout the year. That is still quite high, but it honestly is worth it.

Thanks for the explanation Rosa..........I first thought it might be a NT property that I hadn't heard of but then I googled it and realised it was privately owned. Then I saw the ticket price..!!

What a great Xmas present. You should start dropping hints for a yearly Xmas renewal..!!

This is absolutely wonderful! I'd love to visit this garden (did I say before that I'm a fan of English gardens?). And I hope you'll get the chance of spending a lot of time there this year as it's so close to where you live (lucky you)! :-)

Thank you Edna. I had passed the house, which was once called Hadspen House, many times and could see the work that was going on there, but when they found the newts, all work had to stop! It really is a great place and I do feel lucky that it is close by. Johnny Depp viewed the property when it was for sale....I think the right person bought it ;-))

So I guess Johnny Depp didn't buy the house after all? His last name always cracks me up as Depp means something like dork, moron, twit in German ;-))

That's right Edna. I'm glad he didn't as it wouldn't have been the place it is now I'm sure.
Maybe the name suits him well then....maybe I shouldn't say that, but it is funny ;-)

Yes indeed Nouchet. Great care has been taken to protect the wildlife and nature. I hope one day to see the deer herd. I will definitely be going back there, time and time again :-)

This reddish-ochre colour scheme, in harmony with the green of the conifers and other exotic evergreens, is pleasing to the eye, as is this welcoming and cosy environment, delicately maintained.

10 minutes away and with an annual ticket, I would regularly recharge my batteries in this charming haven of peace! Which seems to be the case for you too :-)
