Glorious! I was not very successful at growing these. We had too many high winds over a few years at the wrong time of year and my delphs were destroyed each time. :o(

Thank you Andy. The stem on this one is very thick and it's over 5ft tall. The problem I have had was the slugs, they love them, and have had to be protected until they were well established.

They're famous for being slugfests.But I gave up because of the many storms with high winds that we had in the 80s and 90s..

One way to keep the slugs away is to put sawdust around the flower as soon as it appears above ground. I am determined to keep them safe :-)

I can't grow delphiniums, Rosa. They always get eaten by slugs or snails when they first come through. Glorious colours.

I get the same problem. Have you tried putting sawdust around them? That's what saved ours. Almost lost one of the white ones this year so put a little cage over it.
