Palladian Bridge in Prior Park, Bath
There are four almost identical surviving Palladian bridges of this size, designed by the Venetian architect Andrea Palladio (1508–1580). Three in England and one in Russia.
The Palladian Bridge at Prior Park in Bath was built in 1755 for Ralph Allen, and copied from the one at Wilton House near Salisbury (built 1735-37). This was the last of three of its kind built in England.
Grade 1 Listed since 1950.

'Red Falcon' ferry in Southampton Water
One of three similar Red Funnel passenger & vehicular ferries frequently plying their trade between Southampton and East Cowes on the Isle of Wight.
On the skyline is the former chapel of the Royal Victoria Hospital at Netley.
Netley Hospital was Britain's largest military hospital and when built it was the longest building in the world.
Today, only the hospital chapel remains of the main building, which was demolished in 1966 and the site is now open as the Royal Victoria Country Park.
Better detail when viewed large.

Just a bridge at night
I am a long way short of mastering hand-held night photography.
But I gave it a go....
Slightly better on black
Looks more like spring than autumn
View across the Mill Avon at Tewkesbury towards the mill cottages which are now well over 500 years old.
I bet this scene looks really beautiful in the spring!

The view looking across the lake from the south side at Painshill Park, in Surrey.
It would be folly to think the Gothic Abbey ruins are real, although they were erected in 1772 and are listed Grade II.
Woollett Bridge, Painshill Park
This footbridge on the south side of Painshill lake goes across to Grotto Island on the right.
It is not the original which was constructed in the 1840s. This is a reconstruction, built off site in 2012. It is a replica of one known from a 1760s engraving by William Woollett, the only remains of which were the brick abutments.
Painshill Park Trust maintains the park. It is a registered charity which was formed to restore the 18th century landscape and they have done an exemplary job.
View from the Turkish Tent
Looking east along the valley at Painshill Park, at Cobham in Surrey,
Above the Five Arch Bridge in the centre is the Grotto and at the top of the lake is the Gothic Temple. The latter two both being follies.
Painshill was created by the Hon. Charles Hamilton between 1738 and 1773. Hamilton was a painter, plantsman and a brilliantly imaginative designer. He wanted to create a romantic landscape to stimulate the senses and emotions of visitors.
