Our part of the south coast of England faces towards the south-west, so the breakwater, which protects the entrance to Newhaven harbour, is often hit by waves driven by the prevailing wind, as I comes up the English Channel from the Atlantic.

Thank you, Don. As you can see from my response to Annemarie, this is a favorite subject of mine. It is about 4 miles from my home so even in rough weather, it is not too difficult to get there when the weather looks like putting on a good show.
