Der Velika-Onofrio-Brunnen ist ein Brunnen im Zentrum von Dubrovnik . Es hat eine vieleckige Form für 16 Masken zum Ausgießen von Wasser.

Großer Onofrio-Brunnen
Der Brunnen wurde 1438 vom neapolitanischen Baumeister Onofrio della Cava als Teil des Wasserversorgungssystems von Dubrovnik errichtet . Wasser fließt aus 16 steinernen Maskerons. Es befindet sich vor dem Klarissenkloster neben dem Pile-Tor. Es war ursprünglich reich verziert und erhielt seine heutige Form nach dem großen Erdbeben im Jahr 1667 . Im Zentrum der Stadt stand den Einwohnern von Dubrovnik an zwei Stellen Wasser zur Verfügung, am großen und am kleinen Onofri-Brunnen . Außer diesen beiden gab es in der Stadt noch mehrere kleinere Brunnen.

Eine ähnliche Aktion, die Frischwasser aus einer 12 Kilometer entfernten Quelle holte, war in Europa bis dahin nicht bekannt . Es war bis zum Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts in Gebrauch
