My Black Walnut tree against a twilight sky 19-1-1…

This beautiful big old tree gave shade to the west end of the house. The severe drought here sadly killed it after a struggle through Summer / Autumn and Winter 2012. It didnt make it through to Spring 2013... Its broken my heart.

Sunset 19-12-2012

Because of the dreadful drought.. 2012 brought some amazing sunsets here. There was alot of dust in the air. This was in the garden... and is the only time of year we can see sun sets... and then the next ridge over still cuts them a little short.

Even drought and dust have their moments of beauty in beautiful sunsets.

Winter Sun 24-1-13

I love Winter trees and how they define the "bones" of the landscape. This beautiful sky pre-empted a snowfall.

Broken Bow

11 Oct 2009 6 13 538
This was taken with my first cheap digital camera.. I still love this and set the shot up with some care. It really was that blue that day. Just a note... I hate "not straight"... BUT.. if I straighten the waterline.. the trees look terrible.. and if like this.. I straighten the trees... well the waterline bugs the heck out of me !! Catch 22 !

Sunset 15-11-13 Quintessential liquidity.

High Flight ~ Clouds

20 Sep 2012 27 44 705
"Clouds" for the Poetography Group (original in Note) High Flight by John Gillespie Magee, Jr. Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings; Sunward I’ve climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth of sun-split clouds, — and done a hundred things You have not dreamed of — wheeled and soared and swung High in the sunlit silence. Hov’ring there, I’ve chased the shouting wind along, and flung My eager craft through footless halls of air.... Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue I’ve topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace. Where never lark, or even eagle flew — And, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod The high untrespassed sanctity of space, - Put out my hand, and touched the face of God. It has a special meaning this photo. A dear friend's 22 year old son passed away in a tragic accident the day before. A wonderful young man.. full of compassion and life. He was training to be a vet assistant.. and was also following up when he could afford it.. his Air Training Corps stuff and learning to fly. I had gone outside on the deck to just find some peace of mind.... and the sky opened up... I felt it was something special... a sign.. whatever. I used the photo for his Funeral Service card with John Gillespie Magee Jr's "High Flight" as a poem. It is the only non dog picture of mine I have framed. It means alot to me.

Return to Ft. McMurray ~ Welcome HOME

03 Jun 2016 35 49 864
PHOTO Courtesy of Paul L (my brother who is not my brother) Paul , my very long time English friend (he is like a brother who isnt a brother) who now lives in Canada ..... he and his Canadian wife live in Ft. McMurray I had spoken to him so I knew he got out .When they were evacuating them North he refused and ran the fire road with a small convoy to get out south ,which was as well because then those they had sent North were trapped and had to come out via helicopter. He & Nessa went back as some of the first people going back on the 3rd June . Their place is ok.. smoked to heck.. but nothlng they can't make right. I saw on the BBC an amazing pic of the Canadian Fire Crews with Engines on the Bridges and flags hoisted to Welcome folk HOME. Paul and Nessa took THIS photo out of the car window as they returned the other day ..... and they were pretty emotional too. So many Hero's.... all of them unsung. Bless you Ft. McMurray.. you shall rise from the ashes... HUGSSSSSSSSSSS for you Paul and Nessa EXPLORED !
