Marble Portrait of the Boy Caligula (?)
Early 1st century AD

This head bears a striking resemblance to representations of the boy Caligula. Modelling private funerary portraits of children after members of the imperial family was common. Thus this could as well portray an unidentified boy, done in the guise of a Julio-Claudian prince.
