Moss Sporophytes

Moss Sporophytes
Wandering round my garden yesterday trying to find something to photograph, I found an old house brick which was covered in moss.

It was far too cold and windy to stay outside, and so I took the brick indoors and photographed the moss in natural window light. I used in-camera focus stacking to get maximum depth of field and a sheet of green card as a background.

There is anode shot in the PiP if you have time to look.

A wonderful little forest here Keith. The ability of your camera to do focus-stacking is a real boost here but your ability to actually make use of it cannot be under-stated. ⭐ Love it, very well done.

Best Wishes. Herb

Thank you so much for these generous comments Herb. I'm glad you like this pair of macro shots.

It was much more comfortable (and warm) to take the brick indoors to photograph.

The focus stacking is really good, but sometimes it can involve a lot of trial and error.......and of course you need a subject which isn't going to move!

Thanks for the gold star my friend..!!

Wonderful perspective. And good idea to go inside. Hope the brick wasn't holding up your house wall! *smile*

Thank you so much Laura..........I'm glad you like this one. Much appreciated.

The brick is one of many I've dug up from my back garden over the years.........apparently the house I live in was the last one to to be built in the row and it seems the builders buried some left-over bricks and other assorted rubble rather than take it away to properly dispose of!

We have a lot of not native chunks of rock in our backyard. I think when they were laying foundation they tossed things in the back. Ah well.

Some of the stuff has been helpful.........garden edging for one and I built a hedgehog house with others and when I had part of the garden paved (to make a patio) it was handy to use some bricks as hardcore when broken up.
