The Lightship

The Lightship
Formerly called the Mary Mouse 2 and now simply called The Lightship this beautifully restored 1940s ship is now a classy restaurant moored in Haslar Marina, Gosport, Hampshire.

Best viewed large. Thanks for looking :-)

Haha, it looks like it has a thousand mast with that yacht harbour background but I still like it. Well done.

Thanks Güni............glad you like the photo and thanks for your kind comments,

I've never been onboard but it looks very nice from the outside. I suspect it's a bit high-priced for my wallet..!!

Hast Du das Restaurant auch getestet? Was gibt's da so? Fisch? ;-)

I haven't been in the restaurant.............it's a bit high-priced for my wallet. I think the menu is mainly fish and other sea food as you might expect.

Well, Keith, that's probably the fate of pensioners who have only ever worked all their lives. You can't get rich! But our true wealth is something else anyway, isn't it? And you can certainly eat well somewhere else. Such restaurants are of course also exposed to higher prices simply because of their location and perhaps their fame ;-)

I can't argue with that Frank...............everything seems to be increasing in price nowadays. Any restaurant sited within a popular yacht marina is always going to be expensive.....that's life I suppose.

A great image Keith with an old time feel to it, I think it would also be good in B&W, it's almost selective colour, enjoy the rest of your weekend

Glad you like it Peter,...........and now I look at it I can see that it looks a bit like selective colour! It definitely isn't though :-))

I hope you've had a good weekend.

The specialty is supposed to be seafood and fish. My culinary specialty too. An original place to eat. Kind regards, Anton.

You've obviously looked at the menu Anton............and of course you're correct! I've never been onboard as I suspect it's a bit out of my price range :-))

Thanks for dropping by and leaving a comment and star!

Hello, Keith, mooie foto, maar ga er NIET eten, ik heb de menukaart gezien, want als jouw beurs leeg is , dan is jouw maag nog lang niet vol.

Keith Burton club has replied to Berny club
Thank you kind sir!

As far as I can establish this vessel used to be called the Royal Sovereign Light vessel and it was replaced, sometime in the 1970's, and was subsequently sold to be used as a restaurant in Haslar Marina, Gosport. The vessel was painted a stunning lime green and renamed ‘Mary Mouse 2’.

I believe before it was repainted it was black!
