Garden Spider
We have lots of these of various sizes in our garden at the moment. This one is currently guarding our domestic waste wheelie-bin!

Best viewed large...............depending on your attitude towards spiders..!!

Great shot! I accidentally killed a fat spider like that yesterday, when I was sweeping dead midges off of my porch siding. I actually felt badly. I think it was a cat face spider, which has a fat body like that one, and it happens to be the same color as the wall of my porch..

Glad you like it Diane. I had to google "cat spider" as I'd never heard of it - but now it's easy to see how it got it's name. We don't have them in England, but it's very similar to some of our garden spider varieties. A shame about the one you accidentally bumped off - but I expect there will be another along soon :-)

As kids we believed that if you killed a spider it's bigger brother would come along and get you, but you should be OK........................I hope!
