This week in SSC:
"Deep Depth of Field"
I took this photo on a walk through this pretty neighborhood by the sea. These folks look like they've created a nice little slice of paradise for themselves here.
My scene was taken handheld at f11. "Deep depth of field" is a technique that I haven't really used much but I want to use it more now. It's very intriguing. This was a good and challenging challenge.

This week in SSC:
"Something interesting from my street"
I live way out in the woods and the lane I live on is really just a long driveway that ends at my house (see PIP.)
I walked down it a couple of times but really couldn't find anything too interesting (and I didn't think I should post a photo of my neighbor's house. :)) So... I took a photo of a tadpole that is in our pond since the lane goes right by it. I thought he was pretty interesting. Check out his little tail!

This week in SSC:
"Take a photo of anything that flies or floats in the air."
Well, I got a lot of exercise this week. We always have jets going over from Sea-Tac International Airport in Seattle but we also live very near a private airpark. Planes take off or land from there but you never know when it will be. So each time I heard what I thought was a small plane I went running outside with my camera. I got several shots of different planes but this was the best one I got all week. I believe it's a replica of a World War 1 Army plane. I just love the bright colors. You can see some of the other planes (and helicopters) that I saw this week in the PIP.

This week in SSC:
Use Post Processing on your photo of choice.
Since last week was "no processing" whatsoever, this week "The sky's the limit!"
I took a photo of some petunias and gave it an "oil painting" effect. I'll include the original in below.

Flowers SOOC (Straight Out of Camera)
I had fun with my flowers this week. :)
This week we really had to pay attention to what we were doing before pressing the shutter button. This was a good thing and made me aware of what I could do to improve my images without having to resort to post-processing like I now realize I usually do. I also found some settings in my camera that I didn't know were there. All in all, a good learning experience.
Here is my pink hydrangea SOOC! (and some PIPs)
