Summer

Oh, summer, please stay awhile longer...

Paradise

07 Aug 2019 25 34 281
This week in SSC: "Deep Depth of Field" I took this photo on a walk through this pretty neighborhood by the sea. These folks look like they've created a nice little slice of paradise for themselves here. My scene was taken handheld at f11. "Deep depth of field" is a technique that I haven't really used much but I want to use it more now. It's very intriguing. This was a good and challenging challenge. ...and for Sight and Sound: The Moody Blues from their album "In Search of the Lost Chord" (1968) Visions of Paradise Visions of Paradise

Young Man

11 Jul 2019 27 44 303
This week in SSC: "Something interesting from my street" I live way out in the woods and the lane I live on is really just a long driveway that ends at my house (see PIP.) I walked down it a couple of times but really couldn't find anything too interesting (and I didn't think I should post a photo of my neighbor's house. :)) So... I took a photo of a tadpole that is in our pond since the lane goes right by it. I thought he was pretty interesting. Check out his little tail! ..and for Sight and Sound: Tower of Power from their album "Bump City" (1972) You're Still a Young Man You're Still a Young Man

Flying

01 Jul 2019 21 40 291
This week in SSC: "Take a photo of anything that flies or floats in the air." Well, I got a lot of exercise this week. We always have jets going over from Sea-Tac International Airport in Seattle but we also live very near a private airpark. Planes take off or land from there but you never know when it will be. So each time I heard what I thought was a small plane I went running outside with my camera. I got several shots of different planes but this was the best one I got all week. I believe it's a replica of a World War 1 Army plane. I just love the bright colors. You can see some of the other planes (and helicopters) that I saw this week in the PIP. ...and for Sight and Sound: The Beatles from their "Magical Mystery Tour" album (1967) Flying Flying

SOOC

This week in SSC: Flowers SOOC (Straight Out of Camera) I had fun with my flowers this week. :) This week we really had to pay attention to what we were doing before pressing the shutter button. This was a good thing and made me aware of what I could do to improve my images without having to resort to post-processing like I now realize I usually do. I also found some settings in my camera that I didn't know were there. All in all, a good learning experience. Here is my pink hydrangea SOOC!
