Triphora trianthophora (Three-birds orchid)


Between postings from our Newfoundland adventure, today I made a quick trip up to the Pisgah National Forest near Brevard, North Carolina for Triphora trianthophora or Three-birds orchid. They were not as plentiful as they were last year, but they made up for it in quality.
Using weather data from that area, my scheme for predicting their erratic bloom times is still hitting on 100%. It was a good day...
