Back up to the Pisgah National Forest near Brevard, NC.

My calculations told me that today would be another bloom day, and sure enough, it was. I met my flickr friend, Jim Petranka who lives in Asheville, NC. He did not have as far to drive as I did, but he had to drive through the rain -- not me! Jim said that he had not seen this particular species in bloom in twenty years, so he was very pleased to see them in bloom. A very good day...
