Seeping The Dandelion Flowers
I started a fresh batch of dandelion wine today, first by picking the flowers and then pouring boiling water over them to seep for two days. The recipe I use is from the Middle Ages and is known as "Midday Dandelion Wine," because you were supposed to pick the flowers at midday when they were fully open. The amount of dandelion flowers needed is two quarts for a batch. I ended up picking enough flowers, 5 quarts, to do 2 and a half batches; which should make enough for about 13 regular-sized bottles of wine.
I always love projects like these with a history to them! I would have probably made a good peasant.
