This has the air of a classical painting. The subject is the building, r maybe the people, rather than the horse (?) Guards, who mostly have their backs to us. But life is going on in the foreground, and the building is serene in the rear. Excellent,

Thanks, Bob. A good point -- the party's in front here, and business in back. Thanks again. Yes, it is the Horse Guards.

A super photo John...............I especially like the vibrant colours and the wonderful detail you've captured in the architecture..!!

I'm pretty sure you don't mean "Horde Guard Parade".......................although some might suggest that you've described it perfectly :-))

Thanks, Keith, I didn't mean "horde" consciously, but who knows what sarcasm lurks in the minds of men? I only sharpened the building, which makes for unusual DOF. But it looked so good sharpened that I had to do it. I didn't sharpen the front because that would have left noticeable ghosts.

Actually I sharpened the clothes but no edges.

A stunning building.

I agree, Esther. The problem is when I'm in London I get used to all the amazing building and stop noticing it. It's only when I get home and look at the pictures that I start to appreciate it. Just as well, I suppose -- if I stopped to admire every amazing building I'd never get more than a hundred yards from the hotel.

Thanks, Roger. It does make the guardsmen look a little dowdy, doesn't it?
