Point Edward, Ontario

Point Edward, Ontario
Buying chips under the Bluewater Bridge, which runs from Point Edward to Port Huron, Michigan, on the other side of the St. Clair River. At the moment only essential traffic is allowed across it.

This view is from the Canadian side to the American.

And I was in Melbourne again yesterday. Also made a stop in beautiful Strathroy.

The distribution of ratings is suspiciously bimodal, Sarah, as on a lot of review sites. My speculation is either that competitors are posting negative reviews or that only people with negative opinions aremore likely to post. Anyway, the main complaint seems to be that the food has gone downhill because of a change of owners. The people I was with were happy, though (I didn't have any myself). The chips are in classic local style -- thick-cut and fried in beef fat. Perhaps some of the reviewers prefer the McDô style -- skinny and fried in oil. Fair enough. You don't get that style at this place.

I really love both: greasy chips (not as main diet) and these steel constructions of the bridges. Good match of light and shadow, very well taken - and the couple left, I suppose, took a good portion of freshly made salad at the trailer ... ??

Thanks, Leon. I didn't have any chips myself; have to watch my boyish figure. Luckily I've spent most of my life in Toronto, so I never acquired the poutine habit -- adding gravy and cheese curd to chips is just asking for it.
