Not one of our better traits. And the fools don't think it costs them anything: the store chain just swallows the cost. Sure, I'll tell my nephew, the monkey.

Stores could make a profit out of cart theft, Bob, if they adopted the policy of the market in my former (well-off) Toronto neighbourhood -- they required a $200 deposit to take the cart out of the store. I never used this option (I lived in a slightly less well-off part of the neighbourhood).

An elephant's graveyard) is a place where, according to legend, older elephants instinctively direct themselves when they reach a certain age. They then die peacefully without disturbing the herd.

In countries with no elephants this custom has been adopted by supermarket trollies.....................

I used to have a photo on Flickr of a traffic light graveyard, Keith. I'll see if I can find it.

The are huddled together plotting revenge on the human race. Enslaved, having to carry huge burdens endlessly, one day they will achieve freedom !

Yes, technology is so advanced that machines are organizing liberation movements. I don't think it will be long before Trafalgar Square is filled with protesting carts/trolleys.

Hmm. Judicious cutting and pasting might be able to produce a photograph of that, too.

Thanks, Diane. It's funny how things like this never show up in developers' sketches of the neighbourhood.
