Amboy desert rain (#1010)
Coming down from the pass that leads to Amboy, there was rain falling in what appeared to be a relatively constrained area that seemed to be not moving. In the several minutes that I observed it, the cloud didn’t seem to move any closer to me, or further away. Note that the first set of low hills in the background are at least 4 miles away, so it is hard to judge how close the storm was. At this point you’re seeing the west and south side of the storm, there was a very different phenomenon on the north and east side – see adjacent pictures.
