San Juan River UT environment (#242)
The river in the bottom of the canyon here, seen from Muley Point in southeast Utah, is the San Juan River. The San Juan merges with the Animas in Farmington, NM and then flows from here into Lake Powell. The 3 million gallon flow of toxic waste from the Gold King mining disaster (see description with adjacent picture) will soon reach this point in the San Juan river. (Photo is from a 2008 trip to the area).
