Thompson Springs Book Cliffs, UT (1789)
Book Cliffs (see link) which are just off the Sego Canyon road north of Thompson Springs. Coal mining in the Book Cliffs was common, including in Sego Canyon (see nearby pictures). It might thus be that the dark streak across the cliffs here is due to the presence of coal. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Book_Cliffs
