Apache Trail Apache Lake overlook (1885)
Apache Lake overlook. Just about 7 miles after this point, I took an access road down to an interesting campground on the lake. Leaving the campground, a sharp rock punctured my right front tire, creating an adventure I had not expected. Since I was on a dirt road where there was no cell phone access, I couldn't call AAA. Luckily a camper helped me change the wheel. Later, in Globe, I was told that the tire was too severely ruptured and would have to be replaced. I now have a stronger appreciation for the regular forewarnings to have a good spare when touring remotely!

Don Barrett (aka DBs… club has replied to ClintClint has replied to Don Barrett (aka DBs… clubThe last time I had anything like that happen was when I hit a pothole in Hammond, Indiana. Fortunately, there was a tire store within sight of the pothole. I asked the guy if he'd dug the hole himself. He was getting a lot of business that night.
