Sunday 8 August 2021 – The ‘Buses Festival’ rally held at the East of England Showground, Peterborough.

Some of the trophies on display which would be awarded to successful entrants later in the day.

The rally was organised by Key Publishing, the publishers of ‘Buses’ magazine - a magazine I have bought every month since June 1962 although back then it was called ‘Buses Illustrated’ and published by Ian Allan. I retained all the copies until quite recently (May 2021) when I donated them to the ‘Bus Archive’. www.busarchive.org.uk

That is over 700 issues!

Bus Rallies are quite popular not only in Britain and Ireland but in many other countries including the United States and Australia. They give the owners of old vehicles the opportunity to show the fruits of their dedicated labours in restoring old vehicles to their former glory. The public get chance to wallow in nostalgia when some owners give free rides.

There are also modern day vehicles too. Some bus and coach companies are also proud to display their newest purchases.
