Cambus Limited 736 (SUB 794W) and 732 (FWR 218T) in Cambridge – 8 Jun 1990 (119-21A)

Cambus Limited 736 (SUB 794W) and 732 (FWR 218T) in Cambridge – 8 Jun 1990 (119-21A)
Friday 8 June 1990 - Cambus had been privatised on 5 December 1986 when the company was bought by its management. In the early days the new owners made a number of secondhand acquisitions and two such vehicles still in the red livery of the West Yorkshire Road Car Company are identifiable in this evening peak view in Emmanuel Street, Cambridge. Both are Eastern Coachworks bodied Bristol VRs as are the other two vehicles which carry the Cambus fleet livery.

The former West Yorkshire vehicles were both new to the York-West Yorkshire Joint Committee which was jointly owned by York City Council and the WYRCC. When the York City Council sold their stake to WYRCC the vehicles became wholly owned by WYRCC.

Now as Cambus 736 (SUB 794W) (new in March 1981 as York-West Yorkshire 3770) and 732 (FWR 218T) (new in March 1981 as York-West Yorkshire 3721). As pure WYRCC vehicles the fleet numbers changed from the 3xxx series to 1xxx series and the number 1721 had not been removed from what is now Cambus 732.
