Sunday 8 April 2018 (1119) – The Arriva garage at Garston (North Watford) is set to close during 2018 as a result of, amongst other commercial aspects, the loss of the Transport for London contracts to operate services 142 and 258. The property had its origins as a London Transport Country Area garage and opened in 1952.

To mark the closure the Amersham & District Motorbus Society organised a Running Day which replicated former LT services in the Watford area operated by preserved vehicles and Arriva allowed these buses to pass through the garage to enable riders to view the scene from within the buses.

This general view shows the various types allocated to Garston. The single deckers are two Enviro200s (ENL class) with a Pointer Dart (PDL class) between them. Beyond is an Alexander ALX400 bodied Volvo B7TL (VLA class) double decker. The newer double deckers on the right are the SW class Wrightbus StreetDecks of which there are ten allocated to Garston for service 340. The service requires 9 buses Monday to Friday, 8 on Saturday and 6 on Sunday.
