Eagle Barge Inn (PiP)

One from the archives, the floating pub, the Eagle Barge Inn at Laggan Locks on the Caledonian Canal captured in 2010. The benches can be seen on the deck where you may enjoy lunch, liquid or otherwise!!

Laggan Locks are a series of water lock gates between Loch Oich and Loch Lochy. They are part of the 60mile stretch of waterway that is the Caledonian Canal, which cuts through the Great Glen and connects the south coast of Scotland to the west coast. It was completed in 1822, the engineer responsible for this remarkable design was Thomas Telford.

Thank you very much Mick. I remember we were at Fort Augustus once when there was some sort of boat festival or regatta going on. It was a long time ago but I remember the decoarated boats and bunting everywhere. We also spent a lot of time at Neptune's staircase. It is quite fascinating and peaceful watching the boats going through the locks.

Pleased you enjoyed the music too. With the name of the pub it couldn't be anything else really!!!!

Love the perspective and the reflections of these fine composition Carol. Brings back good memories of a walk down the length of loch Oich and back. We followed the route of the old military road and a disused railway line (Fort William to Fort Augustus) on the eastern side of the loch towards these locks. Did not go as far as here, wishing we had now!
