Der Bewacher der Kaulquappen? The guardian of the tadpoles?

Man könnte das man so meinen, wenn man dieses Bild betrachtet. Aber die Laichzeit der Wasserfrösche ist meist Mai-Juni und die Kaulquappen sind schon ca. 1 Woche alt. Es müssen also Kaulquappen von Erdkröten sein, die normalerweise zwischen Februar und April ablaichen. Übrigens werden die Eier und Kaulquappen nicht weiter betreut.
Mit seiner Rundumsicht hatte der Frosch den Fotografen längst bemerkt und versteckte sich mit einem mächtigen Sprung ins Wasser.

You might think so when you look at this photo. But the spawning season for water frogs is usually May-June and the tadpoles are already about 1 week old. They must therefore be tadpoles from common toads, which normally spawn between February and April. Incidentally, the eggs and tadpoles are no longer being looked after.
With its all-round vision, the frog had long since noticed the photographer and hid with a mighty leap into the water.
