Liminganlahti, eine Bucht etwa 30km südlich von Oulu vor Liminka, gilt als das wichtigste Feuchtgebiet Finnlands.
In diesem Gebiet machen viele Zugvögel auf dem Weg nach Norden (bzw. Süden) einen Zwischenhalt, viele Wasservögel verbringen hier den Sommer und nutzen die Gegend als Brut- und Aufzuchtsgebiet.
