Of all the mountain pearls (and there are many), the gentians remain - along with the columbines - my favourites. They don't climb very high: in a way they mark, with their inevitable blue and corolla, the limit of the alpine meadows and the softness that altitude excludes. Isn't it? A delightful capture that exacerbates my lack of hiking and alpine escape...!

To see this beautiful gentian in nature, you don't have to climb very high early in the year. However, the flowers move higher and higher as the days get warmer.
