1961 Chevrolet Corvette (C1) - HSU 483
This glorious looking Corvette was first registered over here in 1988, but was manufactured in 1961.

Interestingly, that was the year that the rear of the car was completely redesigned with the addition of the so-called "duck tail" featuring four round lights: a design formation that would become synonymous with the Corvette for decades to come.

Great photo Paul! I'd go for a 62 in that style, but I much prefer the 1968-1973 models. GM is the abbreviation for the parent company ... GMC is a truck division of GM. Today ... there is very little difference between a GMC and Chevrolet, but in the old days they had their own engines, or used Pontiac motors in the GMCs.

Thanks for the background info and the link norm. It always confuses me when a registered vehicle comes up as Chevrolet GMC ... does that mean this would have a Pontiac engine or would that just have been the trucks? :)

I suspect it means the person at the registration bureau got their job through a family connection ... and not by their knowledge of automobiles! :-) Corvette owners are typically purists and a Pontiac engine would be verboten! :-) The GMC truck line allows non-Chevrolet GM dealers to sell trucks. The reality is ... if you owned a GMC truck ... it should have been registered as a GM GMC.

I doubt that! :-) Some processes rooted in bureaucracy are hard to remove! My local license branch gave me an 18,000 pound plate by mistake and I didn't notice it until the renewal slip came ... seven months early! I went in to get the problem corrected and they could not understand how it could happen and they would send me out out a new 4000 pound plate. Long story ... greatly shortened ... Seven months later ... I"m still driving around with a 18,000 pound plate with a 4,000 pound registration.
