Ferrari 250 GTO Supercar Replica - VIL 8699

Ferrari 250 GTO Supercar Replica - VIL 8699
The Ferrari 250 GTO is a GT car which was produced by Ferrari from 1962 to 1964. They're rare, with supposedly only 36 GTOs ever built, and a 1963 example was recently sold for a cool $52million (£32m), making it at the time the most expensive car on the planet. However, like the F355 Berlinetta which also appears in this album the car is not what it appears to be.

This one is actually based around a 1991 Porsche 944 S2 so maybe you could get it for slightly less than £32m. This is one of three shots of the car in the album.

Indycaver (Norm), , have particularly liked this photo

Interesting find and photo! I thought it looked a bit stubby in the thumbnail, but thought it was the perspective, but now knowing it was based on the 944 ... I can see why the front end is shorter. No room for the V-12 there! :-) Pontiac dealers offered a Ferrari re-body kit for the Fiero for a couple of years, but I've yet to run across one to photograph.

Thanks Norm for the info and the link. I'd never heard of the MERA so found the article really interesting ... wonder if any ever made it to the UK.

I don't know. There was one that sold on EBay this past month and I curious as to where it went.
