Dominican Republic, Night Heron (Nycticorax)
Night Heron has a short neck in comparison with other herons and a short, but strong and powerful beak. The legs are also shorter than those of other herons.
Night herons are found almost all of America, Africa, South and Central Europe and Asia. European night herons are migratory, wintering in Equatorial Africa. There is no night heron only in Australia.

Dark but with a nice perspective in the eye of this graceful night heron. I don't remember encountering any, they are more discreet than our noisy and bright hosts.
I really like the connivance evoked by your photo with the fragility of this little winged creature...
