frozen in time

This dramatic sculpture sat on a window sill at Saskatchewan's Government House. I like the sense of energy it portrays.

Caron chairs1
I wonder if Jean and Marguerite Caron had much time to sit and relax in front of their house, back in the 1880s and 1890s.

A small window inside what was a larger window, in the side of an old shed. Taken with Kodak Tri-X, using a Minolta 800si.
Mankota fire hall
I went back to take pictures of this hydrant at Mankota, and again it seems to benefit from desaturation of the already faded colours. While I was shooting the man next door came out to tell me the building used to be the fire hall, with the jail out the back. The jail must be gone, replaced by an RV stored there.

Wheel at rest
Mankota is in ranching country. I assume this wheel once was part of a wagon used in round-ups and the like.

Fargo sidelight 2
The yard at the Ghost town Blues B&B outside Maple Creek has a couple of 1941 Fargo trucks, manufactured in the US for the US Army. The original colour was green (officially, Olive Drab). Post-war, this old warrior has received several paint job, including red and silver, with a good dollop of rust for good measure.

The bug eye headlight on a 1941 Fargo built for military use. Originally painted an olive drab colour, this old warrior has received - and partly shed - a few coats of paint since the war ended.

abandoned in Dorothy

A weather-beaten tractor sits beside "main street" in Dorothy, Alberta. An abandoned elevator stands beside the highway that passes by the remains of the community.

multicolour hydrant 2

Whenever I visit Mankota I take photos of this colourful hydrant, located on main street, in front of what used to be the fire hall.

truckin' flowers

Found in the corner of a garden on main street, in Mankota, SK. An ambitious gardener has placed an aged International pickup truck in his/her garden, and then filled the truck bed with bedding plants.

seasons
I discovered a Chevy 1100 truck in a back alley in Mankota, shortly after sunrise. The truck had several colours on its body, having served through many years before reaching its resting place. The morning dew and the leaves added to the colour.
