Håja (sami: Jievju)

Håja (sami: Jievju)
This uninhabited 296m high island is very conspicious from Hammerfest, it lies in Sørøysundet like a huge piece of rock.

That is one seriously impressive lump of rock...........and I'm guessing that millions of years ago it was probably attached to the mainland.

The detail and textures in the rock face is amazing and it looks spectacular against the deep blue sky. I like the way it really darkens the surface of the water with it;s huge shadow as well.

The images in the PiPs are equally as impressive!

Excellent work Gudrun**********

Thanks a lot, Keith! Probably the rock was once connected to both the mainland and the very large island west of it, then the glaciers came and covered it all and after that the water flooded the low lying parts:-)

These cliffs look very spectacular. The colour contrasts well with the blue of the sky. All the best, Joe

Thank you so much, Joe! In spring/summer there's a large sea bird colony and locals visit the other, less steep side to gather cloudberries in late summer.

Herzlichen Dank, Uwe!

Edna Edenkoben club has replied to Gudrun club
Gudrun club has replied to Edna Edenkoben club
