A very dramatic and rugged landscape.............and the waters look quite treacherous for the unwary traveller. Beautifully composed and perfectly suited to black and white.

I love the image in the PiP which only serves to emphasise how careful you have to be travelling around here. It's easy to see why a 4x4 vehicle is essential.

Thanks a lot, Keith! I don't drive, preferring a small group with an experienced Icelandic driver. You can rent 4x4 in Iceland but you can't get insurance for damage to the undercarriage/ damage by river crossings and that can get extremely expensive! Also you better have a 4x4 with high clearance as the terrain is very rough in places.

We are supposed to go there this year but as rain is forecast I guess it will be impassable...

That seems very sensible Gudrun and probably less expensive. I've just watched that video and it's easy to see why the correct vehicle with and experienced guide and driver are necessary.

You would certainly need an experienced guide to ford that river crossing. It looks so exciting. I hope you enjoy your trip, Gudrun. I'm sure you will.
