Hildersham - Holy Trinity - Chancel detail 2015-12-31
Chancel rebuilt 1855 to designs of C.A. Buckler. Clayton and Bell carried out the wall paintings c.1889-90, following a scheme designed (according to the church guidebook) by the rector, Robert Goodwin, along with his widowed sister Elizabeth, who helped to finance the work. Goodwin had been a leading light in the Cambridge Camden Society during his time at the University. The panel to the left of the door shows manna descending from heaven upon the Israelites in the desert, with their tents in the background.
