Nikon D90 and 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5 G Nikkor lens at f/4.5. Low light and a shutter speed of 1/15th, hand held, no flash. A suggestion of a soft portrait filter, but in reality it's bad technique.

I used a Fujifilm FinePix S3 Pro camera with a Nikon DX AF-S Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G lens to make this photograph, assisted by a Minolta Close-Up Lens No.1, dating from the Minolta SR days. Minolta made three of these close-up lenses: No.0 (+1 dioptre); No.1 (+2); and No.2 (+4). They’re high-quality two-element (doublet), achromatic lenses, like Nikon ‘T’ series or Canon ‘D’ series supplementary lenses. They screw on to your camera like filters, and increase close-up and macro capabilities.

The Vivitar 28mm Close Focus f/2.8 lens was made under contract by Komine to Vivitar's specification. Mine dates from 1984. Here it was mounted on a Nikon D2Xs. It can focus as close as nine and a half inches (23cm) from the image plane.
