Cologne - Schokoladenmuseum

Cologne - Schokoladenmuseum
Cologne is the fourth-largest city in Germany - and one of the oldest. A Germanic tribe, the Ubii, had a settlement here, this was named by the Romans "Oppidum Ubiorum". In 50 AD, the Romans founded "Colonia Claudia Ara Agrippinensium", the city then became the provincial capital of "Germania Inferior".

The Schokoladenmuseum (chocolate museum) exhibits items around the history of chocolate, from its beginnings with the Olmecs, Maya and Aztecs to contemporary products and production methods.

In a small tropicarium even house cacao trees. A special attraction is the golden 3-metre-high chocolate fountain, where employees dip wafers into the liquid chocolate and distribute them to the visitors.

There is a wonderful café, where the guests sit next to the Rhine, watch the traffic on the river and on the Severinsbrücke (in the backdrop) and enjoy great chocolate cakes.
