Cologne - Schokoladenmuseum

30 May 2020 171
Cologne is the fourth-largest city in Germany - and one of the oldest. A Germanic tribe, the Ubii, had a settlement here, this was named by the Romans "Oppidum Ubiorum". In 50 AD, the Romans founded "Colonia Claudia Ara Agrippinensium", the city then became the provincial capital of "Germania Inferior". - The Schokoladenmuseum (chocolate museum) exhibits items around the history of chocolate, from its beginnings with the Olmecs, Maya and Aztecs to contemporary products and production methods. In a small tropicarium even house cacao trees. A special attraction is the golden 3-metre-high chocolate fountain, where employees dip wafers into the liquid chocolate and distribute them to the visitors. There is a wonderful café, where the guests sit next to the Rhine, watch the traffic on the river and on the Severinsbrücke (in the backdrop) and enjoy great chocolate cakes.
