After Nice got connected to the French railway system in 1864 and the station was built (at that time far out), visitors from Britain could now reach Nizza in only 2-3 days. That triggered a real building-boom and within decades, the station was in the middle of the new city. Nearly all buildings constructed during that time are in the "belle-epoque"-style. Nice is a real "belle-epoque"-city. I learned, that around 1910 about 150.000 guests lived here during the winter months.
