On the island of Itsukushima, in the Seto Inland Sea is the Shinto shrine, Itsukushima-jinja.

The present shrine, the style and architecture, date back to the 12th century although it is believed the shrine was founded in 593.

This is the Torii, gate, under repair in this picture, due to storm damage.
