Ok. Now this is just TOO COOL. Great shot, great angle, great format, great glimpse into history. Thanks so much for sharing...but...could you tell us more? Hmm...or, maybe this is a personal challenge to find out! I'll be back...

HAH! I do love a challenge! It's the GLENFIELD Tunnel and I found a lovely webpage that fills in all the details!

Well done Janet, I don't always bother putting the location. I used to do the garden for an old lady born 1902 she used to walk from Groby to Glenfield (30 mins) get the train to Leicester then another 15 min walk to school there would not have been any street lights, Leicester is only 4 miles away, it didn't do her any harm she was 103 when she died.
You go about 400yards into the tunnel although the last train was over 50 years ago it still has a sooty smell the temperature is constant at about 10c. When you think about the equipment it was an amazing project

A very good shot Peter and interesting conversation with Janet? I wish everyone would add the location in 'keywords' ....I always look there but not many people seem to add anything!
Enjoy the rest of the week. I am off on my travels for a few days :-)
