cvd - UK tiers, late December 2020

cvd - UK tiers, late December 2020
As a consequence of spreading in the community of the "new variant" [which probably started in late November / early December - also known as the 'Kent variant'], the UK government altered the tiers [restrictions] with effect from boxing day ie 26th December 2020. It was quickly clear this was insufficient, and national restrictions [similar to the Spring 2020 lockdown] were brought in from 4th January 2021.

Personally, I think these changes were too little, and applied far too late.
The Tier restrictions were too weak - even those in Tier4 - and too much freedom was allowed (encouraged) over the festive season, before the bringing in the National Restrictions in January.
[resulting in over 100,000 deaths by 23rd January 2021]
