Chatterley Whitfield

Chatterley Whitfield
The Hesketh Pit of Chatterley Whitfield colliery forlornly awaits its fate. The shaft was sunk in 1914 although the colliery dates back to 1863. The old boilers seen here were used to receive exhaust steam from the winding engine. This was then used at low pressure to generate electricity through mixed pressure turbine sets.
