It is ages ago since I sat behind a piano, so in the mean time I lost my practice. But well, at different bigger railway stations there is a piano, in this case a grand piano. And everybody can play it, under the cloak of ‘share your talent’.
This is the grand piano in the Centraal Station in Amsterdam. It is somewhat lost is a small corner, but there are sufficient people who find it and play it. The photo is for different reasons in black and white: the light sources were of different quality, the keys are black and white as is sheet music.

In all musical links a (grand) piano is played.
One of my favourite pianoconcertos is Tchaikovsky’s in B flat. Here played by the Portsmouth Sinfonia, world’s worst orchestra (note the piano concerto was transposed to A, as the ‘musicians’ decided there were too many flats). www.youtube.com/watch?v=WIm8RZ-WJBA
The same concerto properly played by one of the world’s better orchestras: Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie with Anna Fedorova and Yves Abel in the Concertgebouw, one of the best concerthalls in the world. www.youtube.com/watch?v=hNfpMRSCFPE
What would life be?
Without a song or a dance what are we?
So I say thank you for the music
For giving it to me
Abba: Thank you for the music www.youtube.com/watch?v=0dcbw4IEY5w
To live without my music
Would be impossible to do.
In this world of troubles,
My music pulls me through

Your image is well composed and it was a great choice to use black and white, Diederik!
OMG...I listened to the first piece. I cringed. I winced. And then...I began to snicker...and then to laugh...and then to howl! OMG IT'S SO BAD!!! It's simply the worst orchestra performance I've ever heard in my entire life! :D My poor ears! :D ACK!!! I CANNOT TAKE ANYMORE!!! *falls over* The torture must end...is there any sanctuary?...why...yes...
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh...the second piece...turns me into a butterfly and I am floating away...so lovely. Ok, I forgive you for wrecking my entire aural system. :D
Thanks for the links to these pieces, highly entertaining with vastly different feelings! :D
Thanks for sharing the Portsmouth link. It was very enthusiastic. It would fit in well in the Music for the Deaf concert series.
seen and enjoyed in SSC.
Thank you for posting to Sight and Sound : Pictures & Music
