Like a teardrop on an angel's wing

Like a teardrop on an angel's wing
While I was taking this photo recently, the words "teardrop on an angel's wing" went through my mind and I knew I wanted to use it as a tribute to 10-year-old Zahra Baker, in North Carolina, US. DNA testing on a solitary bone has proven the bone to have belonged to young Zahra. Now they have dug a large hole at a different location to discover and remove the remains of a young child. Testing is now being done on these further remains, but we all know what the results are going to show. This was the location where a small, prosthetic leg was found discarded above ground, so even in death, the killer(s) didn't respect Zahra enough to bury the leg with her. I don't know how many of you have followed this brutal, tragic case - about as sickening and heart-wrenching as a murder can be. This brave young girl looks so sweet in the photos and videos of her. She survived bone cancer and lung cancer, had a below-the-knee amputation as a result of the cancer, and wore a hearing aid, a result of her cancer treatment. Yet, despite all these battles, you only saw photos of her with a smile that lit up her whole face. Her father and her stepmother have not yet been charged with her murder. How can any parent do such horrendous things to such a sweet child? How can anyone abuse (while she was alive) and kill their own little girl??? Yes, this kind of News is unpleasant and upsetting. Some people will choose not to watch this kind of News, which I can understand. However, I have always been someone who wants to know everything, no matter how bad. I want to be aware and not live with closed eyes and ears. I believe people need to know what goes on, including so that they can maybe step in when it's needed. Any suspicions of abuse need to be reported - we have a moral obligation to do so. Tragically, in Zahra's case, many reports were made, but nothing was done ...... and now this young girl is dead. I love to imagine her now, running through the meadows of Heaven, listening to the singing of the birds. Rest in peace, sweet Zahra.
