A Flicker feather for Flickr : )
I think this has to be a feather belonging to a Northern Flicker. Couldn't resist balancing a tiny water droplet on the underside : ) I did take some photos using a black background, in case some (ALL!) of you are wondering what on earth possessed me to place the feather on red! However, I think this was the sharpest focus on the waterdrop, so decided to post this one for a start..
I was out on a long walk in Fish Creek Park all morning, from the Bow Valley Ranch to Mallard Point. Two amazing sightings were a very distant, in-flight Turkey Vulture (rare to Calgary) and a delightful Long-eared Owl (also rare in Calgary). Thanks SO much, Tony, you made our day, our week, our month .... We know you are a superb birder, but maybe you excelled yourself today? Such sharp eyes! Not possible to get a photo of the Turkey Vulture, but I'm really, really hoping that at least one of my Owl shots will be sharp enough to post!! In fact, I think I will download my photos to my computer right now and take a look : )
LOL, try saying my title ten times, fast!!!
