HFF Roger, unvollendete Werke bleiben aber der Geschichte erhalten. Herrlich die Bögen, die sich auch in der Konstruktion des Zaunes widerspiegeln. Am Ende sehe ich eine Änderung der Formen, ist das die unvollendete Version nach anderen Bauplänen?

Thank you very much, Uwe. Appreciated. I am not sure but I think the intention may have been to have four corner sections like the different end section here and to make a quadrangle. I know that one of the reasons why this was not completed was the high cost. I know over many years there have been suggestions that they may try and complete the quadrangle but the cost would still be too much. Also, I wonder if there would be enough surrounding land to actually complete a quadrangle.

The unfinished building still has beautiful proportions, Palladian style is always pleasing! I presume the three windows part on the right represents the unfinished stump. hFF and a good weekend!

Thanks very much, Gudrun. Yes, the three windows represent the unfinished stump. It's a shame it was never fully completed because I'm sure it would have been quite something to see. I know one of the main reasons why is was never finished was the very high cost!

Impressive building Rog. Listen, regarding it's unfinished state, I know a couple of local brickies...

A beautiful and impressive building despite it being unfinished, which is really quite sad. I can understand that lack of funding may have prevented it from being built to the original design as such a grand and magnificent building must have been horrendously expensive, It is a shame though.

What made me smile was the way it is known as the 'New Building'. Only a place so steeped in wonderful history would refer to a building of this age as 'New'.

I guess it was fairly new in 1733 :-))) Had it been completed as a complete quadrangle I think it would have been quite something and even more special!
