It's the dry lakebed of Washoe Lake, which is seriously shrunken due to the drought. This part is on the Scripps Wildlife area. It's only open to the public in the fall and early winter, and is open to hunting (in season) on weekends, Wednesdays, and holidays--so we make sure to go midweek on a non-Wednesday!
